Our Past
Learning is for Everyone, Inc. evolved, over a period of about five years, from an informal statewide homeschool support group into a well regarded non-profit education resource organization with nation wide outreach. We received our 501C(3) recognition in late 2004, and in 2005 embarked on a short term plan to enhance services, redesign our newsletter, and upgrade our website in the service of a long term vision to help bring everyone -- regardless of learning choice -- to the Education Conversation table.
Our transformation from homeschool support to overall learning support was the result of a growing cognizance that many homeschoolers used a variety of resources for learning that often utilized public learning resources, and that many public and private school families were often looking for more effective personal ways to supplement or enchance their children's learning.
Everyone, for the most part, was willing to explore a variety of learning ideas, resources and concepts in order to help their children learn, or simply because they were interested themselves. A resource that a home educator found useful was often the same resource that a public school student's family found useful. Additionally, public education resources are often used by home educators and, increasingly, public education is looking to the lessons of home education.
Our Present
In short, we all want the same thing, for ourselves and our children: The knowledge we need to live well and meaningfully. Perhaps the Education Conversation can evolve with education, moving from what method or style of learning is best, to how best to put the many, ever increasing learning and knowledge resources available today into the hands of learners of all ages.
To that end, Learning is for Everyone, Inc. offers this website, and our many networking and support resources for learners and their families.
Our Future
And we invite everyone to join in the Education Conversation with us, via a Nation for a Partnership of Learners, in schools and libraries and playgrounds, online and off. In coming months, we'll be developing a series of InfoSheets and other media resources to help the conversation along. We invite others to consider creating chapters of Learning is For Everyone, Inc. in their own states, with our full support, including webspace for your own state pages. Share your learning experiences with us, and ideas; send us photos; send us links to stories and resources and help us pull together a real look at learning in America and how we can truly bring it to everyone.
